The Vidbeo platform can generate a video sitemap for you automatically. Video sitemaps are a key part of video SEO as they help search engines like Google locate your video content.
The first step is to make sure you have at least one video served by Vidbeo embedded on your web site. If you are a new user and have yet to upload a video using your admin panel, we will be unable to generate a video sitemap until you do this because our system has no way of knowing your web page’s address.
Assuming you have at least one video (for which you have copied the embed code we present on each video’s page within the admin panel on your site) - and so you can view that video within our player - you will be able to create a video sitemap.
Start by clicking on Account within the menu in the admin panel, and then on Sitemaps, if that option is available to you.
Note: If you do not see these options, your role may limit access to that section.
Assuming you do see the option called “Sitemaps”, click on it. You should now see a list of all the video sitemaps created so far. If this is the first one, this list will be empty.
Click on the green button labelled Add new. You will be prompted for a title, and the domain the sitemap is for. For the title, you can enter whatever you like - we would recommend something like “company.com video sitemap”. Since each video sitemap can only contain links for a single domain (if you run multiple websites you will need to create a sitemap for each one), enter company.com in the box for the domain (of course replacing company.com with your actual domain name).
When you click on the proceed button you will be informed that the data for the sitemap is now being gathered. This is because our system needs to look back at the URLs your videos have been viewed on and this can take some time. It can take several hours if you have many videos on many pages, but is usually faster. The status is shown on the sitemaps page - it will show as being completed when ready.
Once you see that the status of your sitemap is completed, you can download it from the Vidbeo online video platform by clicking on the download button that should now be shown just to the right of its name.
Note: Depending on which web browser you are using, the video sitemap may not download as a file but may open as text (XML). If you see the video sitemap XML document on screen, simply click on “File” within your browser’s menu, then (usually) on “Save Page As” or “Save File As” - and then your browser will save the document on your computer.
The next step is to submit it: How do I submit a video sitemap to Google?.
