What is single sign-on?

Most employees will use several different web-based services during the day. They will not want to have to remember a separate password for each one, plus the more forms a user has to type a password into, the greater the risk of it being intercepted.

In addition, as an employer, you will often want to control what services each user is permitted to access.

Single sign-on solves these issues. Your users can sign-in to a single system and that can then provide authentication to any other service that a user needs access to.

In this process, the Vidbeo online video platform is the Service Provider. Your authentication system is the Identity Provider.

When a user wants to access our service, they are redirected to your identity provider which needs to authenticate them. If they are permitted, it will then look up that user’s data in its database to obtain their email address. If that process is successful, they can then seamlessly sign-in to our platform.

Single sign-on process

We do not record a password for any user authenticated using single sign-on.
